The KAV-250p preamp is an inexpensive entry level preamp that doesn’t sound like one. With both single ended and balanced inputs and outputs, this very flexible preamp has a very clean sound. When partnered with the matching KAV-250a stereo amp, it was a rocking $5,000 combo. But on its own, you will immediately identify Krell’s detailed and clean sound from its KAV-250p. There are no tone controls to artificially boost certain frequencies but you probably won’t need to anyway. The Krell was punchy when the need arises and offered a decent soundstage. Some may find it too neutral but if you have a warm sounding source unit, it will balance out nicely.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
